Notice of Proposed Property Tax Increase for Marshall Community Unit School District #C-2
I. A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy increase for Marshall Community Unit School District #C-2 for 2024 will be held Thursday, December 12, 6:00 p.m., at Marshall Junior High School, 806 North 6th St., Marshall, IL.
Any person desiring to appear at the public hearing and present testimony to the taxing district may contact Mr. Kevin Ross, Superintendent, (217)826-5912, or at 503 Pine St., Marshall, IL, during regular business hours.
II. The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended for 2023 were $5,359,758 extended after an abatement of $212,937.
The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2024 are $6,213,768. This represents 15.93% increase over the previous year.
III. The property taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2023 were $743,613.
The estimated property taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2024 are $736,151. This represents 1% decrease over the previous year.
IV. The total property taxes extended for 2023 were $6,103,370 extended after an abatement of $242,480.
The estimated total property taxes to be levied for 2024 are $6,949,919. This represents an 13.87% increase over the previous year.
